We here at stylewriters.net are professional blog post authors. Yes, we do exist and we make good money, though we never get a by-line. But more than that, we write in a style that knits the reader to the soul of the author, breeding trust. Sounds overly dramatic right? Well, you could be right, but we believe the secret – writing in the first person – is what sets blogs in general apart from other forms of web communication. Those businesses that are able to connect with customers on the internet, personally, will be the ones that run ahead in the future.

Here is a definition of “first person point of view:”

First person writing style is when the writing is in the perspective of the narrator, speaking from the “I, my, me, we, our” perspective. This is as opposed to second person, “you ” and third person, “he, she, it or them.”

First person point of view in writing brings the narrator close up and personal. The reader can identify with them and experience their deepest, innermost thoughts and feelings. While third person and omniscient points of view distance the reader, first person allows the reader to enter the world of the author, privy to his beliefs and direction. In addition, readers are more apt to follow the advice or urging of a first person author whom they trust; hence the use in blogs.

Let’s pretend you are selling widgets using a blog. Which sounds more compelling:

“Many people recommend you buy these widgets because they have found them to be of superb quality.”

-or-

“I recommend you buy these widgets because I have personally found them to be of superb quality.”

Of course, this style of writing hinges on the fact that your readers already have a since of trust in you. That trust is easily built with a blog as you offer some free information that is solid and certifiably honest. It is easy to be a widget expert, as long as you can help folks in their widget endeavors.

That’s why we write in the first person, and all of our blogs and blog posts are written in that tense, unless the client otherwise specifies. For more information, see our ‘contact’ section.
